August 2000 Washington and Old Dominion RR Trail

The WOD RR trail runs 45 miles from Arlington to Purcellville Virgina. A large quarry borders the abandoned railroad trail west of Leesburg.

Some local town folks at Purcellville.

At the end of the trail a restored train station. My friend, Tom, who also made the trip.

July 2000 Williamsburg to Jamestown Ride

After riding the parkway to Jamestown we take the free ferry across the James River to Surry County and ride to lunch at the Surry House Resturant.

Yours truly relaxing during the ferry ride. We are enroute with a full load.
The ferry provides a nice break on a hot day.

May 5, 2000 visiting Antitem Battlefield

Antitem battlefield Civil War memorials are located throughout the park. Burnside's Bridge.
A view of the battlefield from the Antitem observation tower.

The Irish Brigade was recruited from New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Some battlefield memorials with the visitor center on the right.

On the C&O Canal from Harper's Ferry

Look closely and you will see a person climbing the rock face just left of center about halfway up!

Crossing the Shenadoah from Harper's Ferry

On the C&O Canal. In the background a retired lock's house for the lock keeper.

Typical C&O abandoned RR trail with pristine wilderness.

That's me at 6' 4" pointing to the flood plaque next to the light. This building is believed to be an active pumping station along the canal.

Our destination, an aqueduct on the canal close to Shepherdstown, West VA.

Oct. 10, 1999 Mt. Vernon Trail Ride

Shannon and her Blue Cruiser

Good friend Tom and his sister Suzie visiting from Minnesota.

The wind was from the south as we watched planes at the north end of Reagan National Airport.

A somber visit to the Korean War Memorial

Inside the sculpture... cool!
