Now were getting primitive.

The Attack Cow was not at home.

A cool brook does wonders for tired feet.

From Roanoke to Harrisonburg to Lurray Caverns.

A cool 55° inside.

My cousin Karen traveled all the way from Orlando Florida.

A covered bridge outside of Lexington, VA.

Are you feeling the call to ride?

It was a great five days of gorgeous countryside and perfect weather.

October 4, 2003 Visiting Washington DC from Mt. Vernon

This is Mt. Vernon Trail a month after hurricane Isabel in 2003.

The trail was passable with obvious detours.

Arriving at the Mall we found the reflecting pool drained.

Looking back at the Lincoln Memorial.

The reason for the reflecting pool draining - construction of the WW II memorial.

July 20, 2003 Shenadoah Valley Natural Chimneys

The Natural Chimneys are located about 9 miles south of Bridgewater, VA, off of route 727. This is a highlight of the Shenadoah Valley Cruise on page 133 of Road Biking Virginia by Jim Homerosky.
Natural Chimneys consist of limestone and tower to 120 feet, evidence that the Shenadoah Valley was once an inland sea.

June 2003 Bike Virginia - Five days of Virgina/West Virginia Cycling

Bike Virginia offers outdoor camping or gymnasium camping. This is a view of Tent City.

An old railroad round house was nearby one of our lunch break locations.

The ceiling of the round house.

Inside the round house.

A horse farm.

One of our lunch stops.

One of the many churches that provided fresh baked cookies, candy, cake and fresh fruits for the cyclists.

The day of the century, we were detoured due to local flooding. This is the same day I got lost.

A new friend was made when Paul and I found ourselves in Oasis, West Virginia, about 10 miles off the planned route. We soon found out that we were both from Midlothian and have cycled together many times since. This picture was taken at Harper's Ferry.

Happy Trails!
